With patients’ needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.
Diabetes Care
Diabetic care has previously been delivered by the practice under an Enhanced Service commissioned by NHS Highland. Enhanced Services are a means by which Health Boards can contract with practices to deliver services which are out-with the core GP contract.
Unfortunately, NHS Highland have withdrawn this Enhanced Service and have not issued an acceptable alternative.
We therefore have to refer a cohort of our patients to the consultant-led diabetes service at Raigmore hospital, and they will be responsible for the continued diabetic care.
Patients that we are having to refer to the diabetic service come under one, or more, of the categories below:
For all patients whose care will remain with the practice, your diabetic monitoring will now continue as an annual, instead of 6 monthly, review. We will contact you annually, on or around your month of birth, to ask you to arrange your review appointment.
It is a source of regret and frustration to Riverside Highland Medical Group that we are unable to continue to deliver these services locally. It is hoped NHS Highland may in the near future choose to contract this work back to General Practice in a viable way
**Enhanced Services RETURN to GP Practices**
In December 2023 NHS Highland ceased contracts with GP Practices to deliver various additional ‘enhanced’ services. Since then, after a great amount of negotiation NHS Highland has offered a new contract to all GP Practices across the whole of Highland.
We are pleased to inform you that Riverside Highland Medical Group has agreed and signed up to this new contract, allowing all services to return to the Practice and will resume with immediate effect.
This includes the likes of Minor Surgery, Diabetes management, Contraceptive coils and implants and blood testing for those on high risk medication. At the rural sites, a Minor Injury service will also be in operation, reducing the need to attend Emergency Departments.
We know it has been a challenging time for our patients and staff but we are pleased we will now be able to continue providing these vital services to our population.
